Hi! What elements from books / shows / things you like are present in your WIPs? Can you trace each WIP back to their main inspiration source(s)? (hope the question makes sense, I'm lurking in inboxes trying to be more writeblr-active)

Hi Renu! Thanks for asking this question and sorry in advance if I start just spewing shit in incomprehensible fashion. Several of my works were inspired by something I read, watched, played, or listened to... and the answer is kind of surprising in terms of a couple of them.

Let's talk about Lilium for this. Lilium started off, originally, as a story-in-verse called Revenge Syndrome, which was very much inspired by the Vocaloid song, yes. I was... obsessed with that song (and a few others) in high school and wanted to write a story-in-verse about it, because I was in crowds on Wattpad etc. where that kind of storytelling was popular. So I did.

And then, some time later, I decided I didn't quite like it and wanted to write an original work based on the concept of the song and the title. Like "what is this song about. What can I think of plot-wise that could be titled this?" And so I started developing a plot about a super depressed teenage girl (because what else would a super depressed teenage girl write about?) and her dead brother who was haunting her. He was originally supposed to be an antagonistic force and I also introduced an exorcist-type character who would help the main character cope with the trauma of having a dead, demonic brother. But that wasn't working, either.

And so I workshopped a lil more. I ended up taking her brother's antagonistic tendencies and putting them into a whole new character. Gone was the exorcist character. Now, the MC's brother was suffering alongside her and was trying to keep her safe in his own way. And... yeah the plot has stayed relatively the same since that draft. I did change the title to Lilium (because MC was named Lilith, now Lily) because it fits better, and made it the "Revenge Syndrome duology" (because there is a sequel about the MC and her best friend)... Will I still keep that? IDK. I'll keep the sequel, at least.

Another one with a "wild" base of inspiration is ASMLP. You may not think so, because a lot of the larger throughlines are pretty obvious (Dungeons and Dragons, Bloodborne, the Radium Girls), but the idea actually started with just. Me and a notebook.

I got gifted a notebook for christmas one year that was this super pretty blue with gold stars and space stuff and I loved it, and I kept it as a writing journal for a while. I carried it... everywhere. Work, writing meets, around the house, etc. Idk one day I was carrying it at work and like. Just something about the way I was holding it reminded me of D&D Wizards with their spellbooks and I started thinking more about spellbooks and how I wanted to write a fantasy novel with a spellbook-based magic system, and how it would be super cool etc. And so while, yes, it does loop back to one of the main inspos, the real start of this idea was just... how I was carrying a notebook one day. I'm planning a whole behind the scenes post/series for my patrons about this lol

A Novel Series Started By Feeling it Out

--Congratulations on finishing the “Daughter of Evil” novel series! Tell us what you’re feeling right now.

AkunoP: Looking back on it all again, I’m amazed I actually managed to write four novels.

Ichika: Really I feel this big sense of accomplishment. And then also a little bit of feeling like I’ve screwed up.

--It’s been close to two years since the release of the first book, “Daughter of Evil: Cloture of Yellow”…

AkunoP: There was a lot of trial and error going on at the beginning. Both for me and the people I worked with.

--Do you have any events that left a particular impression on you?

AkunoP: I got pretty flustered when my editor at the time told me they were looking forward to working with me because it was their first time doing a light novel, lol. Like, no, it’s my first time too, haha. And back then there wasn’t really a precedent for doing a VOCALOID light novel, so it felt a bit like we were all moving forward blindly feeling things out.

--How was it with you, Ichika-san?

Ichika: I hadn’t had much experience with other people looking at my work, or doing corrections on it, so there was a lot of studying for me.

--By the by, what did you mean about feeling like you messed up?

Ichika: By that I meant…The images under the covers for the third and fourth book, lol

--(haha). But those were so popular!

AkunoP: I thought it was interesting that they had a surprise like that under there, haha

--There were a lot of comments in the popularity poll saying they thought Kyle’s demon form was cool, or that Ney’s dress was adorable.

Ichika: Then I succeeded! lol

AkunoP: On that point, that concept was a pretty good idea I think, haha. Thinking on if those had become illustrations, I think it’s pretty interesting to have them have this change in appearance…lol

Ichika: Now that you say that I kind of regret not being able to draw Ney’s dress in the book illustrations proper.

--Now that we’re talking about the book illustrations, is there anything in the four novels and bonus content that you’re particularly fond of?

Ichika: That would have to be the two-page spread in the first book. It’s a scene that left an impression in the song too.

AkunoP: Same for me I think. Every installment has a two-page spread, but the characters are really well matched here.

Ichika: Yeah, for sure!

--I see. The third and fourth novels are the opposite, but it seems like they fundamentally have the cover characters arranged in them.

AkunoP: Oh, yeah. But the five people who were originally in the “Daughter of Evil” movie illustrations (Kagamine Rin/Len, Hatsune Miku, MEIKO, KAITO)+Clarith are all the main characters, so I figure that worked out pretty well.

--It’s you making so many skillfully matched character highlight scenes that makes this production what it is, AkunoP-san!

AkunoP: There are a lot of characters though so it was pretty challenging, lol

--Your hard work is appreciated (haha). So then, do you have anything that you would like to write a bit more on? And Ichika-san, do you have any characters or scenes that you want to draw a bit more?

Ichika: There’s a lot of scenes I’d like to illustrate with Ney, so I guess she’s someone I’d like to draw a bit more.

AkunoP: There’s a lot of minor details I’d want to go over. Like what Germaine was doing between the first book and the third book, and Ney’s past, and so on.

--Ney was really amazing in the third and fourth books.

AkunoP: On the topic of Ney, she actually should have had more of a highlight in the revolution scene in the first book, and it’s really unfortunate that I wasn’t able to write it into the book proper. Though I was finally able to get that done thanks to the manga in the “Entr’acte of Evil” guidebook. My cutting that maid duel out of the main novel proper might have made that last attack Kyle used in the fourth book a bit more inexplicable, I think.

--Ah yes, the rocket glove…Feels like you’ve got no choice but to write a spinoff from Ney’s point of view (haha)

AkunoP: I mean, if we’re talking like that, there’s no limit to what I’d have to write, lol. If I were to dig up the three heroes and write about them that alone would take a whole novel. There’s a whole lot of content I had to cut to preserve the tempo of the story. The third and fourth books ended up being way longer than I’d planned them to be in the beginning, even. I think Leonhart-san ended up getting the most content cut out of all of them, really. Since in the main novel he just ended up getting killed by Allen really early on, lol

--In the character popularity poll we did get some people commenting that they want to see what it was like for Leonhart raising his kids.

Ichika: I’d also like to see that.

AkunoP: Judging by the results I get the feeling he failed pretty spectacularly at his child-rearing, lol. I sort of think that maybe things would have turned out differently if they’d had a mother… I think they both took on Leonhart’s good qualities from him, but that also backfired too in some ways.

--Yes, I see. I get the impression there’s a lot of characters in “The Daughter of Evil” who were strongly influenced by their fathers. And that a lot of them have mother-complexes and father-complexes…

AkunoP: I wouldn’t say it’s meant to be some hidden theme over the whole work, but I did put that component in all of the characters. Historically speaking there been a lot of people for whom their parental influence decides how their life will go.

--Looking at it that way, in a sense that makes Yukina a very special character.

Akuno: She does stand out in a sense as the antithesis to the other characters, Yukina. But ultimately, she does end up going off the rails a bit for her mother’s sake. So from that perspective she hasn’t managed to escape from her fate. The “Seven Deadly Sins” themselves are born out of the reckless actions of a single mother, and if that is the original sin then that means all of the characters of “Daughter of Evil” are continuing to take on the influence of their parents as “penance” to shoulder the burden of that sin…That’s one of the ways you could look at it.

--…This has gotten pretty deep. There’s a lot there that I want to ask about more in depth, but Ichika-san’s dropped out of the conversation (haha)

Ichika: Oh no, sorry, lol. I was so engrossed in listening along that I wasn’t paying attention to my ROM…Personally I’d love if you guys could continue on this topic, lol

AkunoP: We could be at this all day if we kept on this subject, so maybe it’s best to leave it there for now, lol

The Expected and Unexpected Poll Results

--About the popularity poll that was conducted to commemorate the creation of this fanbook, what do you think of the lineup?

AkunoP: I think it shows that the characters who serve as the protagonists for “Servant of Evil”, “Daughter of Evil”, and “Daughter of White” are pretty strong after all.

Ichika: It’s mostly how I expected it would be, but there are a few characters in it I’m a little surprised over.

--What ones were surprising in particular?

Ichika: I thought Gallerian, Ayn, and Michaela’s rankings were a bit unexpected.

AkunoP: I guess Michaela wasn’t all that popular, lol. Even though she’s been there from the start lol. It’s not just with Michaela; the Mikus in my songs tend to be pretty passive characters in construction a lot of the time. So on the whole they don’t get very popular. It’s like it’s an inversion of the typical VOCALOID ranking that most people have. It’s also funny that Keel, a character who showed up in all four novels, has the same rank as Ayn, a character who only showed up in the second one, lol

--So either Keel’s ranking is low or Ayn’s is high (haha)

AkunoP: And then there’s Lily, who got ranked in between Michaela and Keel. When I first conceived of her she was going to do a whole lot more, but then my plans change and she got the short end of the stick for it, so I do feel a little bad about that.

Ichika: Personally I think I would have liked to see more of Lily’s deeds myself.

AkunoP: Actually, she was originally going to tag along with them to Marlon. But things would have gotten out of hand for me to increase the amount of characters like that, so she ended up having to stay behind and keep an eye on things there.

Ichika: Oh, so that’s how it was!

AkunoP: Conversely, Yukina’s screentime increased a lot from what I had originally planned, so you could say she gained the most out of it. Keel also had a much bigger role than I had planned at first, come to think of it…

Ichika: Keel…At some point I kind of feel bad for how I treated him. I realized that he’s been there since the first book and yet even by the time of the third novel’s illustrations I’d never drawn him once. That’s why I hurriedly picked out a scene where Keel shows up for one of the illustrations.

AkunoP: Well, his initial placement in the story is that of a merely providing support… Everything would be too convenient if I made the rich character stand out too much, so as I was working there were parts where I had to restrain myself from putting him to use. And then there’s the character who ranks number 10 lol I was like ‘hey wait a second there’, lol

Ichika: lololol I feel like number 10 is just sticks out like a sore thumb lol

AkunoP: Gallerian’s more popular than I thought…

Ichika: He’s a character I like a great deal as well. I’ve gotta watch myself with this popularity poll lol

AkunoP: I wanna say, “he’s not even a character from this series lol”. Though well, ultimately it was me who decided to debut him in it.

Ichika: I got so excited when I saw him show up in the plot while you were making it, lol

AkunoP: I agonized over whether to have him show up in the end there or to have everything being told by an adult Yukina. Eventually I figured it was better to debut him to lead into the next series, the Deadly Sins of Evil series…

Ichika: He’s going to be showing up in the Deadly Sins of Evil series, lol

--There were actually a lot of comments to the effect of, “I’m looking forward to the Deadly Sins of Evil series!”, so that was pretty successful (haha). By the way, in the comments for Gallerian we saw a lot of people using words like “fatherly” and “has a kid”…And, incidentally, all of the comments about Keel basically called him a “sappy parent” (haha)

Ichika: Keel, lolol

AkunoP: Keel being a sappy parent is something that must have left a stronger and stronger impression as the series went on…lol

--People like the gap between how he is as a sappy father, how he is as a merchant, and how he is as Kyle’s mean friend. I was also surprised at him tying so closely with Ayn.

AkunoP: Especially considering he’s not a VOCALOID character.

Ichika: But I think he’s a good character nonetheless.

--He’s the sole ranking character out of those that are completely original. I do think though there are other pretty deep characters, like Yarera and Zusco (haha)

AkunoP: Those two wound up getting a surprising amount of screen time, didn’t they lol. I wanted to write more about them, like on their relationship with Gast. I guess there’s not much demand for that, lol

--You mean like the founding of the Venom mercenaries?

AkunoP: I think even if I write it though, it wouldn’t wind up being very interesting lol

--Those two even got described in the fourth novel (haha)

AkunoP: Even now there’s times where I’m not sure which one is Yarera and which one is Zusco lol

--Various countries have shown up in this series, from the Yellow Country of Lucifenia to the Blue Country of Marlon. Which countries would you like to travel to, and which would you like to live in?

Ichika: Elphegort, since it seems the most peaceful.

AkunoP: For travel, probably Beelzenia. Elphegort seems a bit treacherous to live in.

Ichika: I’m a shut-in, so that’s no problem…!

AkunoP: It does have a lot of nature, and if you’re in the capital it’s probably relatively easy to making a  living there, in Elphegort.

--Where in Beelzenia would you like to travel to, AkunoP-san?

AkunoP: It didn’t really show up much in the main series, but somewhere in its Southern region, in concept it had a lot of historical buildings and such down there. Like the Conchita mansion. Somewhere around there.

Ichika: I’d like to go see historical buildings too.

AkunoP: It’s Conchita’s territory too, so the food’s gotta be delicious.

Ichika: I’d love to go to southern Beelzenia as long as I get to eat delicious food lol

AkunoP: Though it was originally a huge military power, so hopefully it wouldn’t break out in a war while we’re there.

--I see, sounds like it had a pretty amazing structure during wartime. I’ve also heard a rumor that Marlon food isn’t all that good… (haha)

AkunoP: I think Marlon would be the most prosperous to live in. Military, history, nature… I feel like Marlon has the best balance on all of them.

--I think Lucifenia would be a decent place to live to, after becoming a republic.

AkunoP: Still, because it’s in the center of the continent it does get embroiled in conflict with its neighbors after that. And it has a pretty high crime rate, too. To the point where some serial killer shows up 100 years later and causes some kind of scandal, I think.

--(haha). Well then, next up I want to ask the both of you something. Please, tell us your impressions of each other after having collaborated with each other since “The Daughter of Evil” song.

AkunoP: I guess that makes it four years now.

Ichika: …Four years have passed.

AkunoP: We first met face to face about three years ago, and for better or worse I don’t think our impressions have changed much since then.

Ichika: I had a pretty decent impression of him as being a polite person, and even now I don’t think that’s changed much.

AkunoP: I don’t think the two of us have really gotten all that deeply involved with each other. Though conversely that might be a good thing.

--Now that you mention it, I think you did say something about being “unable to get Ichika-san to open up to you”, AkunoP-san.

Ichika: Wha…lol

AkunoP: This is just my own personal image, but I think Ichika-san isn’t the type to like people who come on too strong, so I do try to keep myself in check a bit, lol

Ichika: To be honest, whenever I interact with people directly, for good or ill 80% of the time I get called a weirdo, so I tend to set a boundary more often than not, lol

AkunoP: We might be a bit alike in having that kind of stance towards strangers.

Ichika: I think it’s good to keep a moderate sense of distance, lol. It seems we’re of a similar mind on that subject so that makes me feel better.

AkunoP: Neither of us are really the type to be chattering away in a crowded place, lol.

Ichika: Ain’t that the truth, I’d rather some deserted place with a tiny amount of people. Ah, there’s also the fact that AkunoP-san is older than me, so I’m also trying to make sure I don’t run my mouth and say anything rude lol

AkunoP: I don’t really pay much mind to age-based status relationships myself, but it seems the people around me fuss about it a lot.

Ichika: Depending on the person something like “speak politely with your elders” could even wind up being a bit of a catchphrase. …That’s it, lol

AkunoP: Well, I guess it’s better than being rude, lol

--You seem to be like two peas in a pod (haha). Well then, let’s hear what you have to say to each other, please!

AkunoP: To quote a common phrase, it’s gonna have a whole new look. There’ll still be VOCALOID characters, but its construction will be a little different to what I’ve done so far. Characters who were good will take on villainous roles and vice versa…And there will be appearing characters who are continuing the roles they had in “Daughter of Evil”. Such as Abyss I.R. who didn’t get much screentime before, there’ll probably be more opportunities to see her deeds.

Swamp Con Spring 2022!

This was my first ever anime convention, and also my first time cosplaying. I dressed up as Nezuko (from the anime, Demon Slayer). I planned it out about a month beforehand, and bought everything. I almost backed out; but I didn’t. It took a lot of self confidence to do, and also I think I went through with it because I already spent the money for it.

I went with three of my peers; Shannon, Ginnie, and Kevin; and we all had a very fun time. The first part of the convention we went to was the artists and vendor rooms - because at that time, that’s all that was open. There were a lot of very cool “spin-off” art pieces from a variety of different anime, video games, and manga. It was very fascinating. Additionally, there was a stand for furries, where they sold tails and ears; and another stand sold horns.

I had a lot of people approach me because of my cosplay. I ended up taking pictures with other cosplayers; I also had people talk to me as if they were Zenitsu (the person in love with Nezuko) - they spoke like him; for instance, someone called out “Nezuko-chan” in the same tone Zenitsu used. It was entertaining.

We also went to the larger vendor room, where we found a variety of anime clothing, figures, handmade earrings, and a lot of items I wouldn’t normally see in stores - or items that I would see very rarely at least. I did end up splurging on some very cute tanjiro earrings, and a Ju Jutsu Kaizen hoodie, which was embroidered - I’m not mad about the price because the stores I bought from were small businesses, so the associated fees, in my opinion, were worth it.

We then proceeded to the maid cafe, where there were coloring books and brightly themed tables; they served us sweet drinks and dessert. Everyone was in character; with a certain demeanor of maid characters seen in anime. The dance performance was amazing. We were still a bit hungry for more substantial food, so we took a break and got starbucks and papa john’s.

We checked out some of the vendors, and saw more cosplayers - some from video games, and other from anime. After that, we all split up.

I ended up attending a “MetaPanel” Paneling session. I learned so much about paneling that gave me a newfound respect for panelists; it also gave me the knowledge to create my own panel if I ever wanted to. I’ll share a couple of the key points I learned!

Paneling can be broken up into four main parts: creation, submission, prep work, and presenting/performing. In creating a panel, one must consider their passions, who their audience is when running the panel, how they want the panel to be run, and make sure the reason for paneling is genuine (and not for fame or free convention passes/perks). Next, the person has to submit the panel idea - with an appropriate title, detailed & helpful description and their resume! I was surprised about this part - panelists submit panel-focused resumes to conventions & the convention managers may even contact the panelists’ past places they paneled beforehand.

Following submission comes prep work; which can be quite a lot, depending on the type of paneling the person is doing. Examples of what is needed during prep work are visual aids, specified materials, communication within the group and convention managers, and rehearsals.

The final part of it all is to present: one has to be prepared (for strange questions, needed computer chargers or equipment, and showing up early), try to become acclimated to the surroundings (comfortability), and most importantly, have fun!

At the panel, I met Nezuko’s brother in cosplay and I took a picture with him; it was nice to see someone else from the show i was cosplaying from. After, I was invited by my bestie Meir with his friends to go to the Vocaloid concert.

I did find the Vocaloid concert a very unique experience; I’ve never done anything like it before. I listened to Vocaloid music in middle school, but today was the first time I revisited the music in a while. To elaborate, Vocaloids characters are fictional idols with synthesized voices - there is a software you can use with different character voices to create music. At the concert, we saw virtual characters - like Ren, Lin, and Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid idols) perform, projected onto a mesh screen. One of Meir’s friends let us borrow his concert light wands to wave during the performance.

Afterward, I left the building & saw a Pokemon car - which was sort of a final touch for me. I had so much fun, and I think I may even want to panel next year!

SwampCon has definitely shown me a different perspective, or rather, another side of the anime/manga world I haven’t seen before; and it’s amazing how so many people are so invested in making this really cool convention happen - and I do realize how this took an extremely large amount of dedication to do.

Yoooo hey I didn't know you have ocs! Can you tell me about them? (Only if you want if not feel free to just ignore this skkdkfjfjfjjfjfjf)

Yeah, sure! I have two main OCs, Sandalwood and Terra.  I actually have been waiting for someone to ask, since I have sort of a lot to tell about them

Terra is a highschool freshman and sort of a scene kid, definitely an extrovert.  She has blue eyes and red hair which she has dyed coontails in more than once in the past.  She goes to a boarding school called Sandalwood Prep, and has average grades. She’s bisexual and a Gemini.  She doesn’t get enough sleep, listens to MCR and Vocaloid a lot, and is a very inquisitive person.

Sandalwood is a ghost/demon/cryptid who haunts the boarding school Terra goes to (he named himself after the school on the spot when Terra first asked his name).  He is humanoid, and can pass himself off as human, but there are some differences. His (green) eyes flash in the light like a cat’s, and his pupils contract into slits when he’s scared.  He has batlike green-gray wings that he can wrap around himself and hide under his shirt. His sleep schedule is based on whatever the phase the moon is at(fully nocturnal at full moon). He also has various inhuman powers, such as heat resistance, cold resistance, ability to eat anything, flight (ofc), and teleportation (this last one he didn’t realize he was doing until he took Terra along with him one time.  He knows the entirety of the school back-to-front, but doesn’t think of things in relation to each other exactly). Also, he’s sort of a self-insert, so he’s autistic-coded.

Many students have seen Sandalwood over the years, and so he’s become a sort of a legend around the school.  The students treat him with a sort of fearful respect, and count themselves lucky if they ever get to see him.  Sandalwood tells himself he’s happy with this. He’s really lonely, but also sort of terrified of human interaction, so it’s better for him to remain mysterious, he thinks.

When Terra first heard of Sandalwood, she was intrigued.  A monster? This seemed like it was probably the only interesting thing in such a boring old school.  If she ever saw him, she thought, she’d try to ask him as many questions as she could. However, the first time she saw him, she was half-asleep.  

It was a brisk night in late September, and she was in the library (which stays open all night for plot reasons), and it was almost midnight, and she was working on an assignment for math due the next day, and was struggling to keep awake, even with coffee.  Her lamp was the only light on. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him, his eyes reflecting the light. He was just sitting there, watching. He liked to watch the students.  

“Hey,” she called out to him.  He jumped. “You’re, like, the ghost, right?  So you’ve been around here awhile. Can you do math?”  What a bizarre question. Most students were afraid to speak to Sandalwood if they recognized him.  “Uh, yeah,” he said hesitantly, “I can do math.” “Cool Well, since I’m, like, really fucking tired, could you finish this for me?  Please? I’ll give you…” Terra fished around in her backpack, then pulled out a chocolate bar. “I’ll give you this if you do it for me.”  Sandalwood was a little scared- students never asked him for favors. But he didn’t see any harm in it, so he pulled up a chair and started reading over the assignment.  Terra put her head down on the table and fell asleep, but not before she lodged his face in her memory.

After that, Terra was even more curious.  Now that she knew exactly what Sandalwood looked like, she started seeing him everywhere (he often roamed the halls when he was bored, since there was little else for him to do).  Terra wanted to know just about everything about this creature, but wasn’t sure how to approach him, and was still somewhat scared. Eventually, she decided to just approach him in a hallway and speak to him as if he was a human she knew and was already friends with, hoping he would play along and that she’d be able to find out more about him by doing so.  The first time she did this, Sandalwood had no idea what to think, but basically acted the same as her. Just two normal people who knew each other pretty well talking as they walked to class.

Terra was fascinated as she learned more about Sandalwood, but at the same time, she also grew to like him and consider him her friend.  Sandalwood felt the same way about Terra eventually, but at first, his feelings were quite mixed. Sure, he learned things from her about humans he hadn’t been able to from people-watching, and she seemed nice enough, but at the same time, she seemed too nice.  How the hell was she so at ease just??? Socially interacting??? This was the main reason Sandalwood had feared humans as a whole, how they seemed to belong with each other.  

But then he started to notice: Terra was never really angry at him.  She didn’t mind how he stuttered or couldn’t sit still, or never met her eyes.  Sometimes, he’d get overwhelmed, and teleport away in the middle of a conversation, and think, she’ll hate me for sure this time, but when he came back later, she never did, and if he tried to continue the conversation like nothing had happened, she would act like nothing had.  And so, as she started to genuinely see him as her friend, he started to relax around her, confide in her, be truly happy in her presence. She was his first friend, and he was her best friend.

… that’s basically all the plot surrounding them I have planned out.  I might write a fic someday, but I doubt it, since I don’t have any real conflict or antagonist (and since I can’t really write social interaction).  I will probably post more art of them (most of my drawings on this site are of Sandalwood), and my #sandalwoodcore and #terracore tags are for aesthetic posts I associate with them.

The idea I had for this character was like... They were born of emotions, similar to the way Satan was. Except, instead of being born of the wrath of one, powerful being, they were born of all the sufferings, pain, fear, and hopelessness of millions of weaker beings (mostly human) over a few thousand years.

All of this has led to a very powerful demon, but at what cost to the demon themself? They've had the memories of countless others since before they were even truly "born", and they experience new ones in their dreams every night.

Their dreams are so vivid that they can feel pain as really as real life, and every dream is experiencing the worst, most painful moments of a being's life.

This has led them to avoid sleeping, going days at a time without rest in order to avoid the torture of a dream. They conceal the tiredness under their eyes with dark makeup, hoping that no one notices how fatigued they are.

Their parent has tried getting them to go to bed out of concern, but that was before they knew.

On a lighter note, their main hobby is music. They like playing around with synthetic vocals, and their parent got them Vocaloid software for their birthday.

I feel like actually posting about an oc, so I'm going to do it. I don't have a name for them, but they're a demon and were adopted by mc (not one of my mc specifically, just Main Character but like... Kinda old.)

They were brought into the devildom with mc when mc was picking them up from school, so Lord Diavolo decided that, since they were MC's child and also a demon, they would stay (as an exchange student? It wasn't really clear) with mc and the brothers to learn about the devildom and how to manage their powers, (they're a fairly powerful greater demon) and also provide the insight of a Human World Youth that the older exchange students might not.

I adore my name. It’s rather long, but once I discovered a meaning that I liked behind the first two, I loved it even more. It’s a name that definitely suits me if you’ve ever met me in person.

5. do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing? do you identify yourself by the things you do?

Both. My very being alone has made people happy and given them a purpose to live (I’ve actually been told that; it’s not me being cocky), but I also feel that what I do is very important to furthering how I live as a human. So definitely a little of both.

6. are you religious/spiritual?

Depends on the day.

7. do you care about your ethnicity?

I care about how I’m treated because of both my ethnicity and the way I look (to most people, they don’t match up).

8. what musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?

Selena. Marie. Gomez. I cannot stress that one enough. Also, Amy Lee, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus at one point, Natasha Bedingfield, Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks, Destiny’s Child, and, honestly, several others. My existence depends on me listening to music, it’s a form of meditation for me. So, I don’t listen to a song unless I like it and if I like more from that artist then they definitely make my list of good to listen to.

9. are you an artist?

I’m a literary artist and I’m beginning to dabble in visual art. I’m not particularly musically artistic in terms of composing, though. And my performing is… okay.

Yes.

11. describe your ideal day.

‘Ideal’ as in what I’d like to do would be a productive day of drawing, writing and sleeping with little breaks in between to go get hugs from my friends. ‘ideal’ as in what I usually do would be wake up at an ungodly hour, listen to music while I get food and go about whatever I’m doing, be it class, homework, work or hanging with friends, and end up sleeping around four in the morning.

12. dog person or cat person?

Both, but I do tend to lean towards cats.

13. inside or outdoors?

Both. I was raised to be an outdoors kid, so I do enjoy going for walks or hikes, but I’m also never opposed to lounging inside writing or reading or doing puzzles.

14. are you a musician?

Not in the slightest, unless you count singing and even that is stretching it. I sing for fun, not for performance.

15. five most influential books over your lifetime.

The entire Harry Potter, Twilight, Vampire Academy, House of Night, Morganville Vampire, Goosebumps, 39 Clues, Bunnicula, My Sister the Vampire, Warrior Cats, Charlie Bone, and Vladimir Todd series; Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden as the first ever lesbian novel I had read; Myth-o-Mania: Say Cheese Medusa because it gave me a new perspective of Greek Mythology that made me want to remake the myths myself; The Vampire Book: Encyclopedia of the Undead was what got me into vampires to begin with; Seven Spiders Spinning was a good read before I became a severe arachnophobe.

1. What is your name and does it mean anything?

Angel. It’s pretty self-explanitory.

2. How long have you known your best friend?

About ten years. Eleven come my birthday this year.

3. What position do you normally sleep in?

I usually sleep on my stomach with my head facing the doorway. I only know this because that’s how I always wake up. I move a lot in my sleep, but I always wake up in that position.

4. Were you a part of any “clique” in high school?

I can honestly say no to this one. I just went wherever I wanted because no one liked me. So, I simply inserted myself wherever I felt like being regardless of whether the people wanted me there.

5. Who was your favorite teacher in high school and why?

Without fail, always the History and English teachers. English teachers taught me how to form proper sentences while the history teachers debunked White America every chance they got.

6. Do you wish to travel a lot?

I honestly don’t want to leave the States, but I do want to see other places. I’m just not fond of the idea of settling down somewhere unfamiliar.

Yes and it hurt like a bitch because they put the fucking needle in crooked. I’m never doing it again. Whoever got my blood is a lucky sonofabitch.

No, but I also wouldn’t change it. If I hadn’t had such a… diverse upbringing, I wouldn’t be the amazing person I am today and, while there are several million things I wish hadn’t happened, I’m also happy they did.

11. Do you like your siblings? Why or why not?

I have a half-sister, a half-brother and a step-brother. They’re all okay. A bit of a handful, but not too bad.

12. How did you meet your best friend and why did you become friends?

I was much more open and expressive at age ten, so I made friends with everyone. One of those everyone simply stuck with me for 10+ years.

13. Name one movie that made you cry.

Off the top of my head, I think… Croods made me cry.
